SwissBorg: the crypto wealth app from Switzerland

SwissBorg describes itself as "a crypto-asset wealth management platform engineered in Switzerland and licensed in Europe". Cyrus Fazel and Anthony Lesoismier founded it in Lausanne in 2017, according to Startupticker, and Cyrus Fazel is its CEO. Customers use the SwissBorg app to buy, sell and hold crypto assets and to earn yield on some of them.

SwissBorg is listed among the event and network partners of Finance Loop.

SwissBorg and MiCA

In the EU, SwissBorg works under MiCA, the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation. The license is held by BlockNodes SAS in Paris and was granted by the French Autorité des Marchés Financiers (AMF) under number A2026-011, as SwissBorg announced. It covers custody and administration of crypto assets, the execution of orders, transfer and placing, portfolio management and advice on crypto assets. European customers move from SwissBorg Solutions OÜ in Estonia, which served them before, to BlockNodes SAS.

"Embracing regulation is the only true path to mass adoption and long-term trust," Cyrus Fazel said about the approval. A MiCA license from France is passported to the other countries of the European Economic Area, Germany among them. What the license requires of a company is on CASP license, and the regulation itself is explained in What is MiCA regulation?

The SwissBorg hack through Kiln

In September 2025, attackers took about 193,000 SOL, then worth around 41 million US dollars, from a wallet that SwissBorg used for Solana staking, as Crowdfund Insider reported. The way in was Kiln, the staking provider that ran this program for SwissBorg: the attackers had compromised Kiln's API. The loss hit users of the Solana Earn program, about one percent of customers, and SwissBorg said in its security update that it would cover the loss from its own Solana treasury.

Staking hands the technical work to a provider, and that provider becomes part of the risk. How staking works and where the risks sit is on crypto staking.

SwissBorg and Finance Loop

SwissBorg is one of the event and network partners that Finance Loop thanked in its review of the first year. At the German Blockchain & AI Week 2025 in Berlin, which the Finance Loop team supported, the program listed SwissBorg on a panel with CoinPaprika, iVault, Realiz and MeasureEx. Crypto events in the German capital are collected on crypto in Berlin, and the Swiss crypto scene around Zug on Crypto Valley.

What is SwissBorg?

SwissBorg is a crypto app for people who want to invest in crypto assets and keep them in one place. SwissBorg holds the assets for its customers, so it is a custodian and not a self-custody wallet. The knowledge hub answer on crypto custody explains what that means for a customer.

Is SwissBorg regulated and safe?

Yes. In the European Economic Area, SwissBorg works through BlockNodes SAS, which holds a MiCA license from the French AMF. Customers in Germany are served under this passported license, so BaFin does not issue a license of its own for SwissBorg. Before MiCA, crypto firms worked under national registrations, SwissBorg under one in Estonia. MiCA replaced them with one EU license, and firms without it had to stop serving EU customers when the transition periods ended. Regulation does not remove every risk: the Kiln case above hit customer funds at a licensed provider. The rules for crypto companies in Germany are on MiCA rules in Germany.

Who are the founders of SwissBorg?

Cyrus Fazel and Anthony Lesoismier founded SwissBorg in Lausanne in 2017. Cyrus Fazel leads the company as CEO and speaks for it on regulation, as in the MiCA announcement quoted above.
