Amdax
Amdax is a Dutch crypto investment firm from Amsterdam for private investors, companies and institutions. Clients either build their own portfolio from 40 screened crypto assets on the Amdax platform or hand their money to Amdax experts, who manage it in one of seven strategies with a personal relationship manager.
Amdax keeps client assets in a full-reserve digital vault, holds them one to one and does not lend them out. In 2020 Amdax became the first crypto service provider registered with De Nederlandsche Bank, and in June 2025 the Dutch markets authority AFM authorized Amdax B.V. under MiCA.
Self-directed and managed investing
With self-directed investing, clients decide on their own which of the 40 screened crypto assets they buy and when, through the platform or the Amdax app. With managed investing, Amdax experts run the portfolio along the goals, wishes and risk appetite of the client, and a relationship manager stays the fixed contact.
Companies invest through a business account in the name of a private limited company, a holding, a foundation or another legal form. Amdax names the planned changes to box 3, the part of Dutch income tax that covers crypto tax in the Netherlands for private investors, as one reason why more entrepreneurs hold crypto assets in a company.
Authorization under MiCA
The AFM granted Amdax its MiCAR license on 26 June 2025 under Article 63, for execution of orders, custody, transfers and portfolio management on crypto assets. Portfolio management is the service behind the managed strategies, in which Amdax decides on the investments within the mandate that a client has given.
The interim register of ESMA lists the Netherlands as home member state and 29 passport countries, which covers every other EEA state. Amdax had already been registered with De Nederlandsche Bank since 2020 and has completed ISAE 3000 type I and type II audits of its controls.
Amdax Research and institutional clients
Amdax Research publishes analysis of the crypto market for clients who want to understand what they invest in, and the firm offers a separate service for institutional clients. Lucas Wensing leads Amdax as chief executive, and Sanne de Gier is its Chief Legal & Compliance Officer.
Banks and asset managers that want crypto exposure for their clients can use Amdax for custody and portfolio management under its MiCA authorization. In the full-reserve model the assets of clients are not lent to third parties, so clients do not carry the credit risk of a borrower.

The bitcoin treasury company AMBTS
In August 2025 Amdax set up AMBTS, the Amsterdam Bitcoin Treasury Strategy, as a separate company with its own governance and the goal of holding one percent of all bitcoin over time. AMBTS raised 30 million euros in its first financing round and plans a listing on Euronext Amsterdam, with Lucas Wensing as one of its co-founders.
Investing through a company
A Dutch entrepreneur can open a business account at Amdax for a private limited company, a holding or a foundation and start within a few days with a simple structure. The company then buys crypto assets itself or hands them to one of the managed strategies, and the assets belong to the company instead of the private person.
Which crypto assets are on offer
Amdax offers 40 crypto assets that it has screened before listing them on its platform. Clients hold the assets in the full-reserve vault of Amdax, and the managed strategies combine several of these assets according to the risk profile of the client.
