Cardano DeFi
Cardano DeFi is the set of decentralized finance applications on the Cardano blockchain, such as exchanges, lending markets and stablecoins that run as smart contracts without a bank or broker in between. Users keep their ada and tokens in their own wallets and trade or borrow directly against the contracts.
The applications build on the extended UTXO model of Cardano, in which the fee and the result of a transaction are known before it is submitted. The Cardano 2030 strategy of the ecosystem sets a target of 3 billion US dollars in total value locked by the end of the decade.
Decentralized exchanges and DEX aggregators
The largest decentralized exchange on Cardano by total value locked is Minswap, according to DefiLlama. Other exchanges include SundaeSwap, WingRiders and Splash, and DEX aggregators split one swap across several of them to find the best price. Many Cardano exchanges collect swap orders in separate outputs that batchers combine into one transaction, because each eUTXO output can be spent only once.
Lending and borrowing
Liqwid Finance is a lending market on Cardano where users supply ada or stablecoins and borrow against collateral. Lenders earn interest from borrowers, and a loan whose collateral falls below the required ratio can be liquidated. FluidTokens is a second lending protocol on Cardano, and Dano Finance runs further lending products on the network.
Total value locked and the 2030 target
DefiLlama tracks the total value locked in Cardano DeFi every day and ranks the protocols by size. The Cardano 2030 Strategy Framework, which DReps backed in an info action in January 2026, names DeFi one of its four high-value verticals and sets a target of 3 billion US dollars in total value locked. For institutions, the Cardano Foundation announced in October 2026 that DeFi integrations with Fireblocks are planned for 2027.
Stablecoins and synthetic assets
Users trade and lend dollar stablecoins such as USDCx and USDM on the exchanges and lending markets of Cardano. Indigo issues synthetic assets such as iUSD against ada collateral, and Djed is a stablecoin backed by an overcollateralized ada reserve. RealFi builds a yield-bearing stablecoin whose backing is credit to businesses in the real economy.

Cardano DeFi and Finance Loop
Finance Loop covers DeFi in the Investment & Digital Assets track, from lending protocols to the questions of collateral and liquidation that banks know from their own credit business. Cardano DeFi adds fixed fees and native tokens to these questions, and both matter to institutions that plan to connect through custody platforms such as Fireblocks.
Finance Loop is a professional network and has the goal of driving the institutional use of emerging technologies in finance, such as AI, digital payments, cloud and blockchain solutions. Finance Loop helps its members build skills and personal networks in these fields: Investment & Digital Assets, Payments & Digital Money, Digital Infrastructure & Sovereignty, and Risk & Compliance.
