Meria

Meria is a French platform for investing in crypto assets, founded in 2017 by Owen Simonin under the name Just Mining. Customers buy, sell and swap more than 50 crypto assets, set up savings plans and earn returns through staking and lending, and companies and financial advisors open business accounts of their own.

Meria reports more than 150,000 investors and 350 million euros under management and delegation. In June 2026 the French regulator AMF authorized the company as a crypto-asset service provider under MiCA, which lets it offer its services across the EU. Meria also runs validators as a staking provider for institutions.

From Just Mining to Meria

Owen Simonin started the company in Metz in May 2017 under the name Just Mining. It registered with the AMF as a digital asset service provider, a PSAN, in 2021 and renamed itself Meria in December 2022, five years after the start in Metz.

Owen Simonin is known in France as Hasheur, the name under which he publishes videos about crypto assets. According to Cryptoast, Owen Simonin says that Meria has never raised money in a real funding round.

Authorization under MiCA

The AMF authorized Meria on June 22, 2026 as a crypto-asset service provider. The authorization covers the full list of crypto-asset services, including custody, exchange, order execution, advice, portfolio management and transfers, and it succeeds the PSAN registration, whose transition period in France ran until July 2026.

With a CASP license from one member state a firm can passport its services into the other EU countries after notifying their supervisors. For French customers the tax treatment stays national, and gains on crypto assets follow the rules of crypto tax in France.

A staking provider for institutions

Besides its retail platform, Meria operates validator nodes on proof of stake networks and offers them to institutions as a staking provider. An asset manager, a bank or an ETP issuer can delegate tokens to these validators while keeping the tokens with its own custodian, and Meria runs the infrastructure and passes on the rewards.

For such clients the questions are the uptime of the validators, the slashing risk and the reporting of rewards, which every staking provider in Europe has to answer.

What is Meria?

Meria is a crypto investment platform from France that the AMF authorizes under MiCA. It offers trading in more than 50 crypto assets, savings plans, portfolio bundles, staking, lending and management mandates, and it serves private investors, companies and financial advisors.

Staking with Meria

On proof of stake networks Meria delegates the tokens of its customers to validators and pays out a share of the network rewards. Staked tokens can be locked for the unbonding period of the network, and the rewards change with the activity and the rules of each chain, as with all forms of crypto staking.

Lending and yield on stablecoins

Meria also pays interest on stablecoins and on bitcoin. Interest of this kind usually comes from lending the assets to borrowers, which is a different source of return than staking and adds the credit risk of the borrower, a risk that customers carry even when the platform holds a MiCA license.

Owen Simonin, known as Hasheur

Owen Simonin founded Meria and runs it as chief executive. Under the name Hasheur he publishes videos on crypto assets for a French audience, and many searches for Meria add his pseudonym to the name of the platform.

Investing in crypto assets from France

French investors buy crypto assets through foreign exchanges, through French platforms such as Meria or through banks and brokers that have added crypto trading. Under MiCA every provider that serves them needs a CASP authorization, either from the AMF or from the supervisor of another EU member state.
