AI Hub Frankfurt Rhein-Main, the AI hub of the Rhine-Main region

The hub's goal, as its About page puts it, is to "promote the adoption, application and scaling of AI in companies in the region". It offers workshops and trainings for staff, and it supports companies with AI strategy and implementation. The data science company statworx powers the hub, and the KI Bundesverband, the German AI association, is one of its partner organizations.

The partner list mixes industries. Next to technology firms such as Microsoft, Google and HP and pharma companies such as Merck and STADA, it names five finance firms: Commerzbank, Helaba, DekaBank, KfW IPEX-Bank and the private bank Metzler. A data team from a bank meets people there who solve similar problems in manufacturing or pharma.

AI Week Frankfurt is the hub's conference week, and AI Hub Frankfurt sells its tickets through its own ticket shop. In 2025 the conference took place at The Squaire, the office building on top of the long-distance train station at Frankfurt Airport, and partners ran official side events around it.

Finance Loop held one of those side events on October 30, 2025: an evening on AI and blockchain in institutional finance, a short taxi ride from The Squaire. Talks covered deepfake awareness, AI as an investigator against financial crime, trusted AI and AI testing, and the potential of tokenization. The side event page lists the agenda and the speakers.

In finance, AI comes with a rulebook. The EU AI Act, Regulation (EU) 2024/1689, counts two finance uses as high-risk: AI that scores the creditworthiness of natural persons, and AI that sets risk and prices in life and health insurance. Fraud detection is expressly outside the credit scoring line. In Germany, BaFin supervises AI that banks and insurers use in direct connection with regulated business, under the German act implementing the AI Act.

A model that runs on a cloud service also touches DORA: the cloud contract goes into the register of ICT third-party arrangements that every bank keeps. AI Hub Frankfurt is an event and network partner of Finance Loop and appears among the partner logos on the About page. For AI Week Frankfurt 2025, Finance Loop presented its official side event in cooperation with Frankfurt Main Finance, Web3 Network, AI Hub Frankfurt, Bundesblock and Sopra Financial Technology. Through the collaboration with AI Hub Frankfurt, guests of the side event received a discount code for AI Week tickets. Finance Loop also thanked AI Hub Frankfurt among its event and network partners in its first-year review.

An AI hub is an organization that brings the companies, researchers and AI vendors of one region together and helps firms start AI projects. Germany has several, most of them tied to a city or a federal state. AI Hub Frankfurt Rhein-Main is the one for Frankfurt and the Rhine-Main region; it is a private company and lists its partner companies on its website.

AI Hub GmbH, entered in the commercial register of the local court of Frankfurt am Main, runs the hub. Its About page names Sebastian Heinz as CEO, Marcel Isbert as COO, Tobias Stein as CVO and Julius Heinz as CFO. The data science company statworx powers the hub.
