ALFI Luxembourg
ALFI, the Association of the Luxembourg Fund Industry, is the association of investment funds and fund firms in Luxembourg. It was created in 1988 and represents more than 1,400 Luxembourg-domiciled funds. Asset managers are members, and so are the custodian banks, administrators, distributors, law firms, auditors and IT providers that serve them.
ALFI's stated aim is to make Luxembourg the most innovative international fund center. It works through technical committees, publishes position papers and runs conferences, among them its annual Global Asset Management Conference. Serge Weyland is CEO, and Jean-Marc Goy has chaired the board since 2023.
Members and fund types
ALFI has three kinds of members: member funds, industry members such as service providers, and individual members. Luxembourg funds are sold in more than 70 countries.
The CSSF supervises UCITS, the funds for retail investors that can be sold across the EU on one license, Part II funds and specialized investment funds for professional investors. At the end of July 2026 it counted 1,492 UCITS, 317 Part II funds and 1,015 specialized investment funds, with combined net assets of EUR 6,686.57 billion in the Luxembourg financial center. Reserved alternative investment funds, created by a 2016 law, need no CSSF approval of their own because their manager is supervised.
Digital, fintech and tokenized funds
ALFI's Digital FinTech section carries the line "Transforming Luxembourg into a digital fund hub" and covers blockchain and cryptocurrencies, data management and security, digital investing, crowdfunding and cybersecurity. Luxembourg law has allowed securities and their registers on distributed ledgers since 2019, and in October 2026 the CSSF confirmed that a fund may issue its units natively on a ledger.
For a fund firm the first decision is where the token sits: on the fund unit itself, or on a separate share class or feeder fund. Both models are in use for tokenized funds and tokenized money market funds.
Leadership and office
Serge Weyland is CEO and Corinne Lamesch is deputy CEO. Jean-Marc Goy was elected chair in 2023. ALFI's office is at 12, rue Erasme on the Kirchberg plateau in Luxembourg City, the same address as the ABBL.
