Bitcoin Suisse

Bitcoin Suisse is a crypto finance company in Zug, founded in August 2013 by Niklas Nikolajsen, Andrej Majcen and Fabian Hediger. Individuals, companies, crypto foundations, funds and financial service providers such as banks and external asset managers use it to trade, hold and stake crypto-assets and to borrow against them through one account.

The group employs more than 200 people in Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Bermuda and Abu Dhabi and reports more than CHF 6 billion in crypto-assets under custody. Since June 2026 its Liechtenstein company Bitcoin Suisse (Europe) AG has held a MiCA license from the FMA, which lets it serve clients in 23 states of the European Economic Area.

Crypto custody: Crypto Account, Vault Account and Proof Wallet

All crypto custody at Bitcoin Suisse runs on the Bitcoin Suisse Vault, its own custody system, and the company says the keys never leave Switzerland. The default Crypto Account gives access around the clock through the website, the app and the relationship manager, and it supports more than 40 blockchain protocols and hundreds of crypto-assets. More than 95 percent of these assets sit on segregated blockchain addresses outside the balance sheet, and a guarantee from a Swiss bank covers the rest that is held pooled for operational reasons.

The Vault Account keeps every asset on personal segregated addresses, and only the client or named members of the client organization can start a transaction. Banks and asset managers can also choose the Proof Wallet for their clients. PwC has audited the custody processes under ISAE 3402 Type 2, Compass Security ran penetration tests, and Zühlke audited the source code.

Trading across more than twelve venues

A smart order router connects clients of Bitcoin Suisse with more than twelve crypto trading venues and splits large orders across them to limit the price impact. Clients choose from nine order types, among them instant execution, smart execution, limit orders, stop orders and TWAP, and they trade online around the clock or through FIX and REST APIs. For every trade the company discloses the venue and the fee, and it checks all trading venues each month.

Staking on ten blockchains

Bitcoin Suisse runs its own staking nodes for ten blockchains, including Ethereum, Solana, Tezos, Cardano, NEAR and Polkadot. Rewards go straight to the client account, and for most protocols clients can compound them automatically or withdraw them after each payout. The company also supports liquid staking, in which a receipt token keeps the staked position usable in DeFi protocols, and clients can vote in network governance for assets such as CFG, DOT and KSM.

Banks, family offices and external asset managers use the same crypto staking service for their own clients and connect it through APIs for trading, staking, custody and reporting.

Crypto-backed loans and loan investments

Clients borrow Swiss francs, euros or dollars, or the crypto-assets USDC, BTC, ETH and DOT, against any mix of more than 15 supported assets. A loan starts at CHF 100,000 and runs for 3, 6 or 12 months at a fixed rate with quarterly interest. The pledged coins stay in a segregated account in the Bitcoin Suisse Vault for the whole term, and clients can swap the collateral during that time. These loans are one form of crypto lending, and their availability depends on the country of residence.

On the other side, clients can fund such loans peer to peer in CHF, EUR or USD. The company only pays out the money once the borrower has pledged crypto collateral, and it watches the collateral value around the clock for margin calls.

Fees for custody, trading and loans

The custody fee of Bitcoin Suisse depends on the value of the crypto-assets held, and the company pays the blockchain network fees itself. Trading clients see the venue and the fee of each executed order. Loans carry a fixed interest rate and no credit commission, and the company publishes its fee schedule for private clients.

Bitcoin Suisse (Europe) AG and the MiCA license

Bitcoin Suisse (Europe) AG has its seat at Aeulestrasse 74 in Vaduz, Liechtenstein, and was founded in 2018 under the Liechtenstein Blockchain Act. On 22 June 2026 the Liechtenstein Financial Market Authority authorized it as a crypto-asset service provider under the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation. The license covers custody, exchange of crypto-assets for money and for other crypto-assets, order execution, reception and transmission of orders and transfers.

ESMA lists the passport for 23 states, including Germany, Austria, France, Italy and Spain. Roman Przibylla, who worked at Deutsche Bank, Commerzbank, HSBC and Vontobel before joining the group in 2023, is CEO of the European company.
