Chorus One

Chorus One is a Swiss staking company that runs validator nodes on more than 30 proof-of-stake blockchains, among them Ethereum, Solana and Cosmos. Clients delegate their tokens to these validators and earn network rewards, while the tokens stay in their own wallets or with their custodian. Brian Crain co-founded the company in 2018, and the asset manager Bitwise bought it in 2026.

On a proof-of-stake network, validators lock up tokens as a security deposit and confirm new blocks, and they lose part of that deposit if they break the rules. Chorus One sells this work to exchanges, custodians, funds and asset managers that want staking rewards without running servers of their own. Since 2020 the company has also operated a node for Chainlink, the network that delivers price data to smart contracts.

Staking services for institutions

Enterprise staking is the core business: Chorus One runs the validators, and an institutional client delegates from its own custody setup. The company names venture funds, exchanges, custodians, family offices, foundations, asset managers and traditional finance firms as its institutional clients. Its security setup uses hardware security modules, vaults compliant with FIPS 140-2, slashing protection logic and an ISO 27001 certification.

Exchanges and wallets that want to offer staking under their own brand can rent whitelabel validators from Chorus One. Private holders stake directly to the public nodes, and the company counts more than 50,000 people who do so. A research team publishes studies on staking yields and network design, and Chorus One Ventures is a fund of 30 million dollars that invests in early-stage protocols.

Chorus One as a Chainlink node operator

A Chainlink node operator runs software that fetches market data from outside the blockchain, signs it and reports it to a decentralized oracle network. Chorus One announced in February 2020 that it was joining Chainlink as a node operator to help provide highly available data feeds. At that time the Chainlink team vetted every operator itself, so that no single party could control many nodes.

On Ethereum mainnet, Chorus One is one of the oracles that answer the LINK/USD price feed. Its node also reports for the USDC/USD, DAI/USD and UNI/USD feeds, where many independent operators each submit a value and the feed contract publishes the median. Lending protocols read such feeds to value collateral and to decide when a loan gets liquidated.

Part of Bitwise since 2026

In February 2026 the crypto asset manager Bitwise took over Chorus One. The staking company brought more than 2.2 billion dollars in staked assets and about 50 technology specialists into Bitwise Onchain Solutions, the staking unit of the asset manager. The contracting entity is Chorus One AG, which now does business as Bitwise Onchain Solutions.

Bitwise already issues crypto index funds and exchange-traded products, and the purchase adds validator operations on more than 30 networks to that business.

How ETH staking works with OPUS

For Ethereum, Chorus One offers OPUS, a non-custodial staking product that runs on its own validators. A holder stakes ETH, can mint the liquid staking token osETH against it and can restake on EigenLayer for additional rewards. Wallets and platforms connect through an SDK, so their users stake from the interface they already know.

Which networks the validators support

Chorus One runs validators on more than 30 proof-of-stake networks, among them Ethereum, Solana, Cosmos, Avalanche and NEAR. A holder picks the Chorus One validator in a wallet or at a custodian, delegates the tokens and keeps them in the own wallet the whole time.

Is staking with Chorus One safe?

Every delegation carries the risk of slashing, in which a network destroys part of the stake after a validator fault such as signing two blocks. Chorus One counters this with slashing protection logic in its validator setup and with ISO 27001 certified security processes. Chorus One cannot remove the protocol risk, so a delegator checks the slashing rules of each network before staking.

Who is behind Chorus One AG?

Chorus One AG is a Swiss company limited by shares and the legal entity behind the staking service. Brian Crain co-founded Chorus One in 2018 and was its chief executive when Bitwise bought the company. The team works fully remote, with colleagues from more than 20 countries.
