Fintech Hub Lithuania

Fintech Hub LT is the association of the licensed fintech companies in Lithuania, and today it appears as the Lithuanian Fintech Association: the old address fintechhub.lt forwards to lfa.lt, while its LinkedIn and YouTube channels still carry the Fintech Hub LT name. Its mission is to unite and support the licensed fintech companies in Lithuania and the EEA and to represent Lithuania as a global fintech center.

If you work at a German bank or payment firm, Lithuanian licenses are part of your market: payment and electronic money institutions licensed by the Bank of Lithuania passport into Germany, and Revolut serves German customers through its Lithuanian bank.

What the association does

The association works through four groups, according to its activities page: a Financial Crime Group, a Compliance Group, an Information Security Group and a group for chief executives and country managers. They share practice, hold training sessions and meet regulators. With the Bank of Lithuania the association runs joint events on compliance, innovation and risk management, and it counted 45 events in one year, from regulator working groups to roundtables and product sessions.

Its goals for the coming years are a stable regulatory environment, a skilled talent base and a jurisdiction open to innovation. A chairman, Marius Galdikas, and a chief executive, Greta Ranonytė, lead it. When Magnetiq Bank joined as the first Latvian bank, the association described its purpose as protecting members' interests and promoting strong risk management and compliance standards.

The Bank of Lithuania and the license model

The Bank of Lithuania runs a program for newcomers, a single point for meetings with firms that plan to apply, and a regulatory sandbox for testing new services; it gives payment and electronic money institutions full access to its payment system, CENTROlink. By 2019 it had granted more than 110 licenses to fintech companies, and Lithuania ranked first in continental Europe for licensed electronic money institutions.

The Bank of Lithuania says it pays particular attention to anti-money laundering and security controls when it assesses applicants, and two of the association's four groups work on financial crime and compliance. A license from Vilnius passports across the EU, as explained at e-money license.

CENTROlink and instant payments

CENTROlink is the payment system of the Bank of Lithuania, open to payment and electronic money institutions. In 2025 it processed 379.7 million payments worth €838 billion, and 68 percent of them were instant payments, against about 23 percent in the euro area, according to the Bank of Lithuania. At the end of the year 138 payment service providers from twenty countries used it.

The central bank also added a Verification of Payee service to CENTROlink, so participants check the payee's name in the same system they pay through. German banks face the same EU obligation, covered at verification of payee, and the Lithuanian numbers show what a market with instant payments as the default looks like.

What is Fintech Hub LT?

Fintech Hub LT is the Lithuanian association of licensed fintech companies, now presented as the Lithuanian Fintech Association. It represents its members toward the Bank of Lithuania and other authorities, runs working groups on financial crime, compliance and information security, and promotes Lithuania as a fintech location.

Is Fintech Hub LT the same as the Lithuanian Fintech Association?

The association's old website, fintechhub.lt, forwards to lfa.lt, the site of the Lithuanian Fintech Association, and the association's LinkedIn and YouTube channels still use the Fintech Hub LT name. The mission on the new site, to unite and support licensed fintech companies in Lithuania, is the one Fintech Hub LT stated before.

Who can join?

The association addresses licensed fintech companies in Lithuania and the EEA, such as payment and electronic money institutions, and it also takes banks: Magnetiq Bank from Latvia joined as the first Latvian bank. Sponsors and service providers appear on its members and sponsors page, and the join form is on lfa.lt.
