Sopra Steria in banking, AI and payments

On its German banking page (in German), Sopra Steria says it supports banks through the whole digital change, from business consulting and systems integration to running applications. It names its client groups: universal banks, development banks, car makers' banks, the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe and the cooperative banking group. The topics it lists are DORA, PSD3, the Payment Services Regulation and FiDA, the fight against financial crime, the digital euro, ESG solutions for banks, and generative AI with hyperautomation.

Sopra Steria's German website puts five AI use cases for banks and insurers on its front page and offers a platform for trusted AI. One project it names: with the French AI specialist Gwenlake, Sopra Steria built "Mon Coach IA" for ESBanque, the French banking school (Sopra Steria). The coach plays realistic client meetings in wealth management, reacts to the adviser's answers and gives feedback during and after the talk. It started in June 2026 with two pilot groups of 45 learners, and more than 1,000 learners were planned from September 2026.

With Computacenter, Sopra Steria won a framework agreement to deploy sovereign AI for the Caisse des Dépôts Group, the French public financial group. In Frankfurt, Sopra Steria and Fraunhofer IAIS organized fAInance, a half-day conference for staff of financial institutions with stations on a trusted AI platform, AI in testing, AI for governance, risk and compliance, AI against financial crime and AI-driven software development. For cloud, Sopra Steria says it helps banks and insurers move to cloud-based systems, and the ESBanque coach runs on a secure cloud architecture Sopra Steria designed for the banking sector. In payments it works through Galitt, a specialist unit that helps banks and insurers bring new payment technology into their systems (Sopra Steria). Its financial services page also names agentic commerce: Sopra Steria estimates that AI agents could assist 310 billion euros of European e-commerce transactions within ten years.

On crypto assets, Sopra Steria writes that it helps banks integrate cryptocurrencies and blockchain, and it has sections on crypto solutions, stablecoins, central bank digital currencies and post-quantum cryptography. It names no bank client for this work. Its insights on the digital euro deal with the compliance duties the new money brings for banks, among them fraud and anti-money laundering checks. Finance Loop announced fAInance 2026, the AI conference Sopra Steria and Fraunhofer IAIS held on June 11, 2026, at Sopra Steria's offices next to Frankfurt Airport, and it names the conference on its pages on AI in finance in Frankfurt and AI in banking in Germany. The event graphic of the Digital Finance Night Frankfurt, which Finance Loop hosted, names Sopra Steria, and a speaker from Sopra Steria was on its program.
