AI courses for finance professionals

AI courses for finance professionals teach the practical use of AI in the work of banks, insurers and finance departments. Participants learn to give a model clear instructions and examine the information it returns. Exercises can use document analysis and report drafting to explain where AI assistance fits into an existing task and where professional judgment is needed.

Training helps staff decide which data they may use and how to check a result before it enters a business process. AI literacy also includes understanding a system's limitations and the responsibilities of its users under the EU AI Act. Course content should match the participant's role and the systems that the organization has approved for that work.

Courses built for banking staff

Hapax launched the AI Certification for Bankers, a free, self-paced course for staff of banks and credit unions, from analysts to executives. The AI Certification for Bankers covers workflow design, risk management, vendor evaluation, data quality and regulatory expectations in lending, compliance and operations. BankersHub publishes AI in Action, a quarterly microlearning series with editions of under 30 minutes on prompting, data analysis, responsible use and AI agents, written for operations, lending, compliance and leadership roles without a technical background.

The one-day course of AI Awareness for banking and finance runs six to seven hours at the client's premises in the UK and works through prompts for credit analysis, deal screening, client profiling, AML and operations.

The AI literacy duty

Article 4 of the EU AI Act requires providers and deployers of AI systems to take measures so that their staff have a sufficient level of AI literacy, taking into account their technical knowledge, experience, education and training and the context in which the systems are used. The article has applied since 2 February 2025, and a bank that gives its departments a chat assistant is a deployer, and a record of who was trained on what helps it show that it took such measures. The page on the EU AI Act in financial services covers the other duties.
