AMINA Bank: a Swiss crypto bank in Zug

AMINA Bank AG is a Swiss bank in Zug, founded as SEBA Bank and later renamed. It calls itself "the only global regulated crypto bank providing a fully universal suite of banking services", with fiat accounts next to crypto custody, trading and staking.

AMINA in Project Agorá

AMINA Bank is one of the private financial firms convened by the Institute of International Finance that proceed to the next phase of Project Agorá, its press release says. The project brings together seven central banks, the Bank of France, Bank of Japan, Bank of Korea, Bank of Mexico, Swiss National Bank, Bank of England and Federal Reserve Bank of New York, convened by the BIS, to explore how tokenization can improve wholesale cross-border payments. The BIS describes the approach as recording central bank reserves and commercial bank deposits on a shared platform for atomic settlement. Tokenized deposits explains this form of bank money, and B2B cross-border payments shows where companies pay today.

Licenses in Switzerland, the EU and Asia

AMINA Bank received a Swiss banking and securities dealer license in 2019 and is supervised by FINMA. AMINA (Austria) AG is a MiCAR-regulated provider of crypto asset services for EU clients. AMINA also runs an FSRA-regulated branch in the Abu Dhabi Global Market and has a local entity in Hong Kong. Through the Austrian unit AMINA became the first crypto banking group with a MiCA license, as crypto in Switzerland explains. CASP license covers the authorization a Swiss firm needs to serve EU clients.

Custody, staking and tokenization

AMINA lists custody, trading, staking, tokenization and stablecoin rewards among its services; its enterprise line AMINA Edge serves institutions. The bank spoke with 21X, Franklin Templeton, DFNS and Chainlink at Tokenization & On-Chain Capital Markets in Zurich, described on crypto custody.
