Bequant
Bequant is a principal trading firm and prime services provider for digital assets, active since 2018 and based in Malta. Bequant gives prop traders, quantitative traders and funds access to more than 20 exchanges through one counterparty, lends to them against their crypto holdings and trades large blocks over the counter with its own capital.
Bequant reports trading volumes of half a trillion US dollars since its start and settles in euros, US dollars, pounds and dirhams. The Maltese company Bequant Pro Limited received a MiCA authorization from the Malta Financial Services Authority in June 2026, which lets Bequant serve professional clients across the European Union.
A counterparty with its own capital
Bequant trades as principal, so the client faces Bequant and not an anonymous order book. For prop traders and quants the firm provides FIX API and direct market access to more than 20 exchanges, custody off the exchanges and risk monitoring, and it co-invests from its own balance sheet in strategies it backs.
On the credit side, Bequant lends up to five times the collateral on a portfolio margin basis and offers overcollateralized loans in all major coins and tenors. Clients can also earn interest on bitcoin, ether and stablecoins that they lend to the firm.
Authorization under MiCA in Malta
The Malta Financial Services Authority authorized Bequant Pro Limited on 30 June 2026 as a crypto-asset service provider under Article 63 of MiCA. The authorization covers custody and administration of crypto assets, exchange of crypto assets for funds and for other crypto assets and transfer services, and the French regulator AMF lists the firm on its white list of passported providers.
The ESMA interim MiCA register lists passport notifications for 29 further countries of the EU and the EEA. Execution of orders for clients and advice on crypto assets are not among the licensed services of Bequant Pro Limited.
Liquidity for exchanges and token projects
Exchanges, trading platforms and token projects use Bequant as a liquidity provider that streams two-sided prices over FIX API, with co-location for latency-sensitive connections. Bequant quotes on centralized and decentralized exchanges and settles trades in fiat currencies as well as in crypto assets.
For a European broker or bank, the MiCA license makes Bequant a counterparty it can check in a public register. The due diligence still covers the legal entity, the collateral terms and the credit risk of a firm that trades with its own balance sheet.
