Finastra
Finastra develops financial software for banks, lenders, credit unions and other financial institutions. Finastra products cover lending, payment processing, financial messaging, core banking and digital banking. Banks use these applications to administer financial products and process the instructions that customers and other institutions submit.
These institutions need systems that process customer instructions, maintain account and loan records and connect operations to payment networks. Finastra provides specialist applications that banks can deploy and integrate with their existing technology. The software supports running and modernizing financial services; the bank or lender remains responsible for its own customer products.
Banking software from Misys and D+H
Finastra was formed in 2017 from Misys and D+H under Vista Equity Partners. Finastra states that it delivers financial services software to more than 7,000 customers, among them 80 percent of the top 50 global banks, and that it helps move $7 trillion in transactions a day. The main business lines of Finastra are payments and financial messaging, lending, and trade and supply chain finance; its former treasury and capital markets products now trade as Teciem.
Instant payments and ISO 20022
The payment products from Finastra run on its Global Payments Framework and can be operated by the bank, by Finastra in the cloud, as SaaS or on premises. Finastra counts more than 30 countries supported with real-time payments and offers a Clearing Development Framework, an ISO 20022-native base that adds new instant schemes by configuration (Finastra). Lloyds Banking Group moved its international payments to Finastra Global PAYplus and reached ISO 20022 compliance with it (Finastra). Learn what the ISO 20022 migration changes for banks and their payment processes.
Global PAYplus is the enterprise payment hub, with configurable processing across multiple countries and payment schemes. Banks can run it on premises or in a managed cloud. Payments To Go delivers a payment hub as a service on Microsoft Azure, aimed at mid-market financial institutions. The dashboards in Global PAYplus show payment queues and help operators investigate payments that need manual repair.
AI against payment fraud and in lending
For fraud, Finastra offers what it calls "a pre-integrated, intelligent AI-powered fraud prevention solution" built into Finastra Financial Messaging and run as a managed service on Azure Kubernetes Service (Finastra). In lending, ING, which is headquartered in Amsterdam and serves more than 38 million customers, moved corporate loan servicing to Loan IQ Nexus and covers 95 percent of its portfolio with it; some loan processes used to take 30 to 40 minutes of manual work (Finastra). Learn how models for AI fraud detection score a payment.
