Liechtenstein Investment Fund Association (LAFV)

The LAFV (Liechtensteinischer Anlagefondsverband) is the Liechtenstein Investment Fund Association, the association of the fund industry in Liechtenstein. It was founded in September 2000. All UCITS management companies in the country are members, as are most managers of alternative investment funds and the custodians, law firms, auditors and IT providers that work for them.

The LAFV works on fund legislation, supports its members and represents the fund center at home and abroad, with presentations such as one in Frankfurt. Thomas Marte is president and Bruno Schranz vice president.

Liechtenstein funds and their approval

At the end of 2025 there were 817 licensed funds in Liechtenstein with CHF 119.9 billion in assets, according to the FMA. The LAFV points to the approval times that the law sets: at most 10 working days for a UCITS fund and 20 for an alternative investment fund.

Liechtenstein is in the EEA, so a Liechtenstein UCITS or AIF can be sold in the EU under the same passport rules as a fund from Luxembourg or Ireland. Funds are one part of the Liechtenstein financial center, next to the banks, insurers and fiduciaries.

Board and members

The board consists of Thomas Marte as president, Bruno Schranz as vice president, Raimond Schuster, Daniel Siepmann and Alois Wille. Besides full members, the LAFV has passive members, among them tax advisors and law firms. The LAFV is one of the eleven associations in Liechtenstein Finance, the body that promotes the financial center abroad.

Tokenized funds in Liechtenstein

Liechtenstein's Token Act treats a token as a container for rights, and fund units can be such a right. A Liechtenstein fund that wants to issue tokenized fund units combines fund law with the token rules of the TVTG, the same law that governs crypto in Liechtenstein.
