NYALA Digital Asset AG
NYALA Digital Asset AG is a Berlin company that tokenizes bonds, shares and fund units for issuers, banks and investment platforms. Its subsidiary Smart Registry GmbH keeps a crypto securities register under the German Electronic Securities Act, and BaFin supervises it.
NYALA was founded in 2019 to give financial institutions an infrastructure for digital assets that they can connect to their own systems. Daniel Wernicke and Dr. Johannes Schmitt lead the company as co-CEOs, and by its own count NYALA had processed tokenized assets worth more than 140 million euros by 2025.
Smart Registry and the crypto securities register
Smart Registry has kept a crypto securities register since 2021, the year the eWpG came into force. The register records issues such as the Lindner Hotel Digital Invest 2024 bond of 3 million euros with a coupon of 5.5 percent and a term to the end of 2029.
In January 2024 NYALA issued its own Series A preferred shares of 3 million euros as tokenized shares, and the company describes itself as the first crypto securities register in Germany to have tokenized shares at that time. The register publishes each issue with its volume, interest rate and term, so investors can check it.
Platform, trading and API
The NYALA platform covers token issuance, an end-to-end process for tokenized securities and the trading of crypto securities on a secondary market. Banks, real estate firms, crowdfunding platforms for small and medium-sized companies and fund managers use it through industry solutions, and developers connect to the tokenization engine through an API.
In 2024 NYALA launched EasyRaise, a white-label solution for investor onboarding, together with the tokenization platform tokenforge and the custodian Tangany. In 2025 NYALA started a co-listing network that lets a crypto security appear on several investment platforms at once.
Clients and partners
NYALA names the investment platforms Invesdor and CONDA as clients with case studies. Among the partners shown on its website are HADC, 21 Oaks Capital, V-Bank, CoinIX, Aquaty, Bricksdock, Aaacht and Heartstocks, and in 2023 the company began to work with platforms in Austria and the Netherlands.

Management and supervisory board
Daniel Wernicke and Dr. Johannes Schmitt form the management board of NYALA Digital Asset AG, which is registered at the local court of Charlottenburg in Berlin. Daniel Wernicke also runs the subsidiary Smart Registry GmbH as its managing director.
The supervisory board consists of Dorette Daume, Sarah Gottwald of the Blockchain Founders Group, the lawyer Eric Romba of Osborne Clarke and Andreas Leckelt of Comvest Holding. The company is a member of the European Blockchain Association and holds an ISO 27001 certificate.
NYALA in the BVeW
Smart Registry was one of the seven founding members of the Bundesverband für elektronische Wertpapiere in April 2023, and Daniel Wernicke is deputy chair of the association. The association adopted a technical standard for token-based crypto securities, so that the same systems can read tokens from different registers.
