Ramp Network

Ramp Network is a fintech company that lets people buy crypto assets with a card, a bank transfer or a mobile wallet, and sell them for money paid out to a bank account or card. Wallets, decentralized apps and games build the Ramp checkout into their own products, so their users can move between fiat currency and crypto assets without leaving the app.

Ramp Network has run its on-ramp and off-ramp since 2017 and supports more than 120 crypto assets, 40 fiat currencies and 150 countries and territories. In the European Union, Ramp Swaps (Ireland) Limited holds an authorization from the Central Bank of Ireland under the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA), and its UK sister company is registered with the Financial Conduct Authority.

On-ramp and off-ramp for wallets and apps

Ramp Network sells its checkout to businesses as an on-ramp and off-ramp integration for wallets and decentralized apps. On the web, a partner opens Ramp as an overlay above its app, embeds the widget in an element of its own page, or sends the user to a hosted Ramp page in a new tab, which needs no SDK at all. Mobile apps connect through guides for iOS, Android and React Native, and a partner turns on selling by adding the off-ramp flow to its configuration, with the Native Flow required for mobile wallets.

More than 250 partner apps use Ramp, among them MetaMask, Trust Wallet, World App, Sorare, Brave and Ledger. Eligible partners may charge their own commission on each transaction, and Ramp says a new partner can go live within two weeks after due diligence, legal review and development. Token projects can ask Ramp to integrate their chain and list their token, and the same checkout delivers USDC and USDT, so wallets also embed Ramp for stablecoin on-ramps and off-ramps.

Buying, selling and the self-custodial wallet app

Besides the partner checkout, Ramp Network runs its own app for iOS and Android, where customers buy and sell crypto assets and send USDC to other users without a fee. The app holds the assets in a self-custodial wallet, which the customer secures with passkeys and recovers by email. Ramp states that it has served more than 10 million customers, and swaps from one crypto asset to another are not available in the EU.

MiCA authorization from the Central Bank of Ireland

The Central Bank of Ireland authorized Ramp Swaps (Ireland) Limited, which trades as Ramp Network, as a crypto-asset service provider on 2 December 2025, and Ramp announced the authorization two days later from Dublin. ESMA lists the company in its interim MiCA register with one service, the exchange of crypto-assets for funds, and with a passport for 30 countries of the European Economic Area, Germany included. Since 22 January 2026, Ramp has served its EU customers through the authorized company, so their purchases and sales fall under the MiCA rules for Europe.

The authorization covers buying and selling crypto assets, while the self-custodial wallet in the Ramp app stays outside it. Ramp warns that the wallet is not covered by the consumer protection rules of the Central Bank of Ireland or by a statutory compensation scheme. Under MiCA, Ramp publishes policies and disclosures on risks, conflicts of interest, pricing, complaint handling and the climate impact of the assets it sells, together with monthly figures on its transaction activity.

Registration in the UK and licenses in the US

The crypto regulation of the UK requires cryptoasset firms to register with the Financial Conduct Authority under the Money Laundering Regulations. Ramp Swaps Limited in London has held this registration since 20 July 2021 and appears in the Financial Services Register under reference number 928783. The register notes that customers of the firm cannot take complaints to the Financial Ombudsman Service or claim from the Financial Services Compensation Scheme.

In the United States, Ramp Swaps LLC in Miami is registered with FinCEN as a money services business. The company holds money transmitter licenses in several states, among them Alabama, Arizona, Kentucky, Ohio and Oregon, under NMLS ID 2366547.

Founders, investors and offices

Przemek Kowalczyk, the chief executive officer, and Szymon Sypniewicz, who now advises the company and sits on its board, co-founded Ramp Network. The company has more than 160 employees in offices in the United Kingdom, the United States, Ireland and Poland. In November 2022, Ramp closed a Series B round of $70 million, co-led by Mubadala Capital and Korelya Capital with Balderton Capital and Cogito Capital, and Ramp counts $134 million in total funding.

What is Ramp Network used for?

Ramp Network is used to buy crypto assets with ordinary money and to sell them again for a payout to a bank account or card. Customers reach Ramp either through a wallet or app that embeds its checkout or through the Ramp Network app for iOS and Android.

Is Ramp Network safe?

Ramp Network works under supervision in its main markets: the Central Bank of Ireland authorized its EU company under MiCA, the FCA registered its UK company, and FinCEN registered its US company. Supervision leaves the price risk of crypto assets in place, and the MiCA risk statement of Ramp tells customers to invest only money they are prepared to lose in full.

Payment methods and fees

Depending on the country, buyers pay with debit or credit cards, bank transfers, SEPA transfers, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, Plaid or the Brazilian PIX. Fees depend on the payment method and the region, and Ramp shows the full cost breakdown before the customer confirms an order.

API and SDK for developers

Developers integrate Ramp through the web SDK, the mobile guides and a REST API, and Ramp sends webhooks about purchases and sales to the server of the partner. A partner tests in a separate testing environment and needs a production API key with the off-ramp enabled before its users can sell.

How selling crypto works

To sell, a customer chooses the asset and the amount, connects a self-custodial wallet such as MetaMask or Ledger and transfers the crypto assets to Ramp. Ramp then pays the money out, and in the euro area the payout methods include SEPA bank transfers and cards, depending on the country of the customer.
