Swedish FinTech Association

The Swedish FinTech Association, short SweFinTech, is the industry association for fintech companies that operate in Sweden and was founded in 2017. More than 100 member companies work in payments and transfers, lending, wealth and cash management, cloud services, software and regtech, and they work together to improve the conditions for fintech in Sweden.

SweFinTech sees itself as a bridge between authorities, policymakers and fintech companies, and it comments on draft laws, consultations and government inquiries. The association also organizes knowledge and networking events for the industry, from breakfast seminars and webinars to the Fintechdagen conference in Stockholm.

Members and membership

SweFinTech brings together 110 companies from the Swedish fintech industry, grouped into payments and transfers, lending, wealth and cash management, and cloud services, SaaS and regtech. Members include the payment companies Worldline, Brite, Surfboard Payments, Finshark and Open Payments as well as the lending platforms Kameo and Toborrow. Fintech companies apply for membership with an online form, and members take part in the working groups and events of the association.

Board and secretary general

Richard Wachtmeister, Chief Legal Officer of Kreditz, chairs the board of SweFinTech, and Ylva Persson, Regulatory Manager at Fortnox, is vice chair. The board also includes Caroline Åkerberg of Lunar, Anders Kumlin of Tessin, Claudia Gomez of Lendo, Lotta Domonkos of Fimento, Olle Asplund of Cirio Advokatbyrå, Peter Orthén of Swimbird and Rasmus Brenter of Open Payments Europe. Roslana Cederhage leads the secretariat as secretary general, and Bella Moraga works there as project manager.

Fintechrapporten, the annual fintech report

Fintechrapporten is the annual survey of SweFinTech among Swedish fintech companies, and its seventh edition appeared in 2026. The share of companies that raised capital in 2025 was the lowest since SweFinTech began to measure it, while more companies were profitable than before. A majority said that the cost of compliance had risen sharply over time, and almost a third had trouble opening an account at a Swedish bank.

Working groups on payments, AI and AML

Members shape the positions of SweFinTech in ten working groups, among them groups on AI, crowdfunding, consumer credit, business financing, funds and legal compliance. The payments group follows instant payments, the new EU payment services rules and the Swedish payments inquiry, and the open finance group discusses the planned EU rules for financial data.

The anti-money laundering group brings together the lawyers of the member companies and is one of the most popular groups of the association. The digital assets group started in early 2021 because of new EU laws such as MiCA and DAC8, and it has held round tables with the tax agency Skatteverket and the supervisor Finansinspektionen.

Fintechdagen and other events

Fintechdagen is the conference of SweFinTech for entrepreneurs, investors, decision-makers and authorities, with talks, panels and networking over one afternoon in Stockholm. The last edition drew more than 180 participants, and its panels covered AI, regulation, sustainable finance and new payment solutions. During the year the association adds breakfast seminars on topics such as open finance and cybersecurity and a webinar series on money laundering risk assessment.

European network and partners

SweFinTech is a member of the European Digital Finance Association, which speaks for national fintech associations before the EU institutions. In the Nordics the association works with Stockholm FinTech Week and with the Danish hub Copenhagen FinTech. In Germany its partners are the conference Frankfurt Digital Finance and the FIBE festival in Berlin, and further partners are the British industry body Innovate Finance and the payments conference series Money20/20.

Swedish FinTech Association and Finance Loop

Fintech companies in Sweden and banks in Germany deal with the same EU questions on instant payments, open finance and access to bank accounts. Finance Loop members discuss these topics in the Payments & Digital Money track and at events on digital finance in Frankfurt and other European cities.

Finance Loop is a professional network and has the goal of driving the institutional use of emerging technologies in finance, such as AI, tokenization, stablecoins, and DeFi. Finance Loop helps its members build skills and personal networks in these fields: Investment & Digital Assets, Payments & Digital Money, Digital Infrastructure & Sovereignty, and Risk & Compliance.
