Asset Management Association Switzerland (AMAS)

The Asset Management Association Switzerland (AMAS) is the industry association of asset management in Switzerland, based in Basel. It was formed in 2020 when the Swiss Funds & Asset Management Association (SFAMA) merged with the Asset Management Platform Switzerland. Its members are fund management companies, asset managers, custodian banks and advisory firms.

AMAS writes self-regulation for fund and asset managers, publishes the annual Swiss Asset Management Study and holds the Asset Management Day in Bern. André Müller-Wegner became president at Asset Management Day 2026, and Adrian Schatzmann has been CEO since January 2021.

Swiss Asset Management Study 2026

According to the Swiss Asset Management Study 2026, assets managed in Switzerland grew by more than 8 percent in 2025 to CHF 3.73 trillion, and AMAS calls Switzerland the third-largest asset management hub in Europe. Asset managers in Switzerland manage around CHF 360 billion in private market investments. Swiss fund assets rose by 10 percent to CHF 1.74 trillion by the end of 2025.

For the private markets, AMAS has built a certificate program with the training body AZEK and a strategic partnership with SECA, the Swiss private equity and corporate finance association.

Leadership

André Müller-Wegner took over as president from Iwan Deplazes, who had led AMAS for six years since the merger. Adrian Schatzmann came to AMAS from Clear Minds, a digital wealth manager he founded, after a career in asset management at UBS. He succeeded Markus Fuchs, who had led SFAMA for eight years.

What are the AMAS codes of conduct?

The AMAS codes of conduct are rules that fund management companies and asset managers follow in addition to the law, for example on the duty of loyalty to investors. FINMA recognizes parts of this self-regulation as minimum standards. AMAS also publishes self-regulation on sustainable finance.

Is AMAS the same as the Swiss Bankers Association?

No. The Swiss Bankers Association speaks for the banks. AMAS speaks for asset management, including fund management companies and asset managers that are not banks.
