VÖIG
VÖIG, the Vereinigung Österreichischer Investmentgesellschaften, is the umbrella association of the Austrian investment fund industry and was founded on 20 January 1988. Its members are all Austrian investment fund management companies and all Austrian real estate fund management companies, so the association represents the entire fund assets that these firms manage.
VÖIG promotes the investment fund business in Austria and takes part in the review of national and European rules that affect its members. The association is in regular contact with ministries, public authorities and the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber, and it collects and publishes the figures of the Austrian fund market every month.
Members and membership
The full members of VÖIG are the Austrian investment fund management companies, among them Erste Asset Management, Raiffeisen Kapitalanlage-Gesellschaft, Amundi Austria and Allianz Invest Kapitalanlagegesellschaft. The real estate fund management companies form a second group, for example Union Investment Real Estate Austria and LLB Immo Kapitalanlagegesellschaft. Since 2013, management companies from other European countries can join as extraordinary members, and the current member list also names Ampega Investment from Cologne.
Since early 2005, VÖIG has also admitted information members, who receive current news on the fund industry through an internal information system. At the end of 2025, the association counted 35 information members.
Fund statistics for Austria
VÖIG collects the volume, the number and the net flows of Austrian funds from its members and publishes them in monthly fact sheets and in historical series that reach back to 1956. In the fact sheet for August 2026, UCITS funds managed in Austria held 122.74 billion euros, and alternative investment funds held 135.87 billion euros. Equity funds accounted for 40.99 billion euros of the UCITS volume, 17.4 percent more than in December 2025.
Board, president and general secretariat
The president of VÖIG is Heinz Bednar of Erste Asset Management, who has led the association since 2007 (in German). Dieter Aigner of Raiffeisen Kapitalanlage-Gesellschaft and Dietmar Baumgartner of 3 Banken-Generali Investment-Gesellschaft are the two deputy chairs on the board, which also has members from Amundi Austria, Gutmann and Kepler-Fonds. The general secretariat in Vienna is led by Secretary General Dietmar Rupar, with specialists for law, taxes, statistics and reporting.

Code of Conduct and the VÖIG course
The Austrian investment fund industry follows a Code of Conduct from 2012 with amendments from 2018, and the real estate fund companies have their own code from 2014. Since spring 1996, VÖIG has offered a course for fund and portfolio managers together with the training institute ÖPWZ, under the academic direction of Helmut Uhlir.
VÖIG and Finance Loop
Austrian fund companies and many Finance Loop members work on the same questions about tokenized fund units, digital fund distribution and the ICT rules of DORA. Finance Loop discusses these topics at its events on fund tokenization and on AI in asset management, with banks, asset managers and fintechs from Austria, Germany and Switzerland.
Finance Loop is a professional network and has the goal of driving the institutional use of emerging technologies in finance, such as AI, tokenization, stablecoins, and DeFi. Finance Loop helps its members build skills and personal networks in these fields: Investment & Digital Assets, Payments & Digital Money, Digital Infrastructure & Sovereignty, and Risk & Compliance.
