Between the Towers

Between the Towers started as the fintech event of Main Incubator, Commerzbank's early incubator arm, and over two years the format grew to more than 30 editions in Frankfurt, Berlin, Hamburg and Munich, with more than 3,000 participants and over 100 startup pitches across those events. The Frankfurt edition typically drew around 100 guests for an evening of keynote talks, startup pitches and networking, with topics from the wider fintech scene, including one edition built around hiring and talent in fintech startups. A 2016 review of the format called it one of the best fintech events in the Frankfurt scene at the time, strong on networking and deal-making even when a keynote or a pitch fell flat.

Main Incubator later became neosfer, and Between the Towers continued as its regular afterwork format. Neosfer's own event page described it as running on the first Tuesday evening of the month, on the 7th floor of the neosfer office, with networking that moved out to the roof terrace in summer and stayed inside for the skyline view in winter, free to attend. By its ninth year, in a year-end recap published in December 2023, the event had become hybrid, streamed on LinkedIn and in a Decentraland Lounge, and had moved from a monthly format to occasional larger gatherings, that year with about 80 guests and three keynote talks on the fintech industry, interest rates, AI adoption and ESG.

Commerzbank closed neosfer at the end of June 2026, after 13 years of operation under managing directors Kai Werner and Matthias Lais. The bank kept its separate corporate venture capital team, CommerzVentures, under managing partners Paul Morgenthaler and Patrick Meisberger. With neosfer gone, Between the Towers has no host left to run it.
