Crypto course
A crypto course explains how bitcoin and other crypto-assets work, how transactions are recorded and what owning a digital asset means. Participants learn the differences between a wallet, a trading platform and a custody service. That foundation helps newcomers understand the risks of buying, transferring and holding crypto-assets before making financial decisions.
Courses range from free online lectures to paid one-day seminars, with different levels of technical detail. An investment-focused format such as the German-language Bitcoin for Investors masterclass examines bitcoin as an asset and the choices involved in holding it. Suitable training also explains custody, trading and the legal rules relevant to its participants.
Free lectures and specialist programs
A free option is Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency Technologies by Princeton University on Coursera, taught by Arvind Narayanan. The eleven modules of the Princeton course run from how bitcoin achieves decentralization and how coins are stored to mining, anonymity, regulation and altcoins, at about 20 hours of work. The Princeton course is a technology course, and Coursera states that it awards no certificate.
For paid programs aimed at finance staff, the Corporate Finance Institute lists its own self-paced Cryptocurrencies and Digital Assets Specialist program, an intermediate course on altcoins, stablecoins, CBDCs and NFTs, and the six-week certificate program Economics of Blockchain and Digital Assets of the Wharton School.
Seminars for compliance staff and investors
In Germany and Austria, business schools and exchanges teach crypto in short seminars. Frankfurt School of Finance & Management (in German) runs a one-day seminar in German, in Frankfurt or online, for compliance, legal and finance staff at fintechs and financial institutions, with MiCA, crypto AML, KYC and blockchain analytics on the agenda.
The Wiener Börse Akademie (in German) runs crypto web seminars for investors. The follow-up seminar from the Wiener Börse Akademie on crypto-assets and DeFi covers lending, decentralized exchanges, staking and the taxation of crypto trades, shows real transactions live and counts toward Certified Financial Planner and MiFID II credits. Deutsche Börse (in German) added an evening online seminar on bitcoin as an investment for private investors.
