Stellar
Stellar is a public blockchain network for issuing digital assets and recording transfers between participants. Payment companies and financial institutions use the shared ledger to develop services that move value between accounts on the network. Developers can also build smart contracts, which are programs that apply transaction rules on the blockchain.
Stellar provides common infrastructure for wallets and applications that use those assets. Service providers called anchors connect the network to local currencies and payment systems by handling deposits and withdrawals outside the blockchain. Moving a token on Stellar and paying money into a recipient's bank account are therefore separate parts of a payment.
Cross-border transfers and asset issuance
Stellar is a public blockchain for payments and tokenized assets. Stellar's consensus protocol confirms transactions in under six seconds. Issuers can set rules for approving, freezing or revoking assets, and the network has a built-in exchange.
XLM pays transaction fees. Institutions use Stellar for cross-border payments, including remittances and supplier payments. Local partners, called anchors, connect assets on the network with bank accounts and cash outlets. The availability of those partners determines how a customer enters or leaves a payment corridor.
EURCV: a French bank's euro stablecoin on Stellar
Societe Generale-FORGE, the digital-assets subsidiary of French bank Societe Generale, issues EUR CoinVertible (EURCV), a euro-denominated stablecoin backed one-to-one by bank deposits and highly liquid assets and structured to meet the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation. EURCV first launched on Ethereum in 2023, and Societe Generale-FORGE deployed it on Stellar after Ethereum, Solana and the XRP Ledger, making Stellar the fourth network to carry the token. SG-FORGE named Stellar's throughput of thousands of operations per second, its seconds-long settlement, its sub-cent transaction cost and its built-in decentralized exchange as the reasons for the choice.
A euro stablecoin issued this way lets a bank settle a payment or a tokenized-asset trade in central-bank-adjacent money without leaving the blockchain, instead of converting back to a bank account for every leg of the transaction. Because EURCV keeps the same issuer, the same reserve and the same MiCAR authorization on every chain it runs on, a counterparty that already trusts the token on Ethereum or Solana takes on no new issuer risk by receiving it on Stellar; only the settlement rail changes.
How a MiCA-regulated stablecoin reaches Stellar
Under MiCAR, a euro-denominated stablecoin is an e-money token, and its issuer needs an e-money institution or credit institution license plus a MiCAR authorization before it can offer the token in the EU. Societe Generale-FORGE holds that status through its Societe Generale group license, which is why EURCV can move to a new chain, such as Stellar, without a fresh license for the chain itself; the license attaches to the issuer and the token, not to the network it runs on. A bank or asset manager that wants custody of EURCV or another stablecoin on Stellar in Germany still needs its own crypto custody license under the KWG from BaFin, the same requirement Finance Loop's page on euro stablecoins under MiCA sets out for EURAU and EURC.
Chainlink and other data on Stellar
A payments network still needs outside data, an exchange rate, a reserve balance, to run a stablecoin or a lending product safely. Stellar joined Chainlink Scale and adopted Chainlink Data Feeds, Data Streams and CCIP, giving contracts on Stellar the same price-feed and cross-chain messaging infrastructure Finance Loop describes on its Chainlink page. The integration sits alongside Stellar's own reserve and DeFi tooling; Finance Loop's page on oracle networks covers how Chainlink, Pyth and RedStone serve financial institutions on other chains.
Upcoming blockchain and digital asset events
Finance Loop and euro stablecoins on Stellar
Finance Loop is a partner of the Digital Euro Association, whose Digital Euro Conference puts euro stablecoins on the agenda next to the digital euro, and supported the Bybit EU x Circle Roadshow in Frankfurt, with panels on stablecoins, USDC and EURC. Stellar and its stablecoin issuers sit in Finance Loop's Payments & Digital Money track, next to the digital euro and instant-payments topics its network covers in Frankfurt, Munich, Berlin and Hamburg.

What is Stellar used for?
Stellar carries cross-border payments and remittances, and increasingly the issuance of fiat-backed stablecoins such as EURCV. Stellar's built-in decentralized exchange lets a user or an institution trade between assets on the network directly, without a separate trading venue.
What is XLM used for?
XLM is Stellar's native token. XLM pays the network's transaction fees, which stay near a fraction of a cent per operation, and Stellar's decentralized exchange uses it as a bridge asset when two currencies have no direct trading pair.
Is there a euro stablecoin on Stellar?
Yes. Societe Generale-FORGE's EURCV runs on Stellar as one of four networks, alongside Ethereum, Solana and the XRP Ledger. EURCV is structured to meet MiCAR's e-money token rules and is backed one-to-one by bank deposits and liquid assets.
Does Stellar work with banks?
Yes. Societe Generale-FORGE, the digital-assets arm of French bank Societe Generale, issues its EURCV stablecoin on Stellar, and Stellar's own materials describe fintech and remittance companies using the network for cross-border payment rails.
